It’s Halloween in Kona and even if the autumn foliage is not as abundant here as in other parts of the country, there is still plenty of Aloha SPIRIT to be had this month! Saturday October 22nd- Kona Pacific Public Charter School Annual “Halloween Journey”-this year’s theme is “Story Land” and is sure to be good time for the whole family! Dress up as your favorite story time character or in a fun costume appropriate for children and for walking through the woods! Cost is only $10 and there are games, food and an silent auction to support the programs for the school. Buy tickets ahead of time at the school office if you want a prime journey time!

October Pumpkin Patch Festival 2016 at Kohala Mountain Ranch
10 am – 5pm every Saturday and Sunday starting October 8th. Each fall, the Kohala Mountain Educational Farm turns into a Pumpkin Patch Festival extravaganza! This October every weekend from the 8th – 30th, the farm is open to the public to celebrate the farm’s fall harvest from 10am-5pm. A “U-pick” pumpkin patch, “U-pick” flowers, a hay ride, a jump pad, keiki cart-train, a petting zoo, pony rides, carnival games, local food vendors, live music and much more can be experienced. Activities are priced between $2 and $9, with an average of $5 per activity. Entry to the farm and parking is free.
The Big Island Princesses will be in attendance at the Festival each Saturday until Halloween, as well! Meet “Anna” from “Frozen” and Snow White!
Annual Costume Party/Silent Auction Benefit
Saturday October 29th– “A Wicked Good Time,” held by the West Hawai’i Assn. of Realtors, will benefit Hospice of Kona. Bring your Halloween spirit to Daylight Mind Coffee Company at Waterfront Row, from 5:30-9pm. There will be a costume contest (costumes encouraged for all!), pupus, cocktails, music and dancing.
