About “Under the Kona Moon”
The mission of Under the Kona Moon is to be a gathering place for Hawaiʻi Island ʻohana and kupuna to bring the past to life. Graced by a majestic moon, the ancient art of mele, hula, and storytelling will unveil and celebrate the past, and continue to strengthen and preserve future generations. The concept was inspired by Twilight at Kalahuipua’a at the Mauna Lani Resort. The event committee is actively seeking sponsorship and is grateful to The Hulihe’e Palace board members and staff, The Daughters of Hawaii, Danny and Anna Akaka, and many other volunteers who continue to support this project.
