We all of have seen the horrible and tragic images of entire neighborhoods in Sonoma County burned to the ground and feel the despair of thousands of residents who have lost their homes, and many their lives. As you know, the fires have been contained, but many Napa Valley vineyards have been destroyed or ruined and an entire economy is in chaos in the region as tourism has evaporated. I invite you to share your Aloha with our Northern California neighbors.

With all the tragedies that have happened in America this year, you may ask why am I choosing to focus on helping this region? Because I am a Northern California native and I led many spirited wine tours with my friends and guests to vineyards on Highway 12 and along the Silverado Trail. I love Napa Valley wine and I know, from my time talking to the vintners there, just as I have learned so much from talking story to the coffee farmers here, that when there is a crisis in the environment, a flood, a pest, a fire, it affects everyone in the area AND all those that love the product that is produced there.
If you are a wine lover like me, come taste, meet some new people, bring your friends and let’s send some much needed Aloha to those affected most by these tragic wildfires.
Thanks Marlina, Greg and Kira of Gertrude’s Jazz Bar for the donation of their beautiful space on the second floor overlooking Kailua Bay and the tapas being served during the event. Thank you to Howard and Sterling from the Kona Wine Market for choosing the wines and offering their expertise in discussing the wines and the region.
