Discovering East Hawaii-Pohoiki, New Black Sand Beach, Uncle Roberts, and Hot Ponds

IMG_1931

We traveled to East Hawaii to see the brand new black sand beach created by the volcanic eruption of 2018, the new hot ponds and the new road over the lava flow. We also dropped into Uncle Robert’s Store and show you how close the lava came to Isaac Hale Park.

If you are looking for some fun to see how Pele’s dynamic forces have changed a region, this is the trip to take!

The beautiful canopy of trees awaits on Highway 137 as you head towards Pohoiki and Isaac Hale Park.
