Kids are out of school and you are just now thinking about what to do to entertain them, provide enrichment or just get them out of the house to enjoy summer! Here are a few ideas that may interest you and your keiki for an enjoyable summer of 2017!

Kona Dance and Performing Arts Summer Program

From June 12-July 22nd, the Kona Dance and Performing Arts is hosting their annual summer session programs. Tuition per hour class is $75 for six weeks or $13.50 if week by week. The program is specifically geared to students 8-14. However, there are classes also available for children from 3-18 and adults! Take ballet, jazz, tap dance and even singing!

Located in Kealakekua, the Kona Dance and Performing Arts studio is a fun way to exercise and build a community.

Summer sailing camps

July 17-24 and July 24-28.

ALL camps 9am – 3 pm Monday to Friday

Parents get registration forms on the website:

For 8-12 yr old novice sailors:  Two -one week long dinghy sailing & beach camps on Keauhou bay. Register before 6/26 for early discount $20!

Intermediate sailors & beginners over 12 years – start the Summer sailing  Keelboats  & dinghies out of Honokohau Harbor   June 26-30 & JULY 10-14   Register before 6/1 for early discount $20!

Camp cost is $170 for first time campers and $150 for returning campers or 2  nd child in the same family; your $50 deposit will hold your reservation for the camp.

Make check payable to Big Island Sailing Foundation (BISF) and mail to PO Box 5164, Kailua-Kona, HI 96745. Deposit is refundable up until one-week prior to camp. Full registration can be done by mail or between 8:30 – 9 am the 1stday of camp at the sailing location.  Please feel free to call if you have questions. Scholarships are available for qualified student sailors.

SKEA Summer ART Camp

If art is your child’s passion, consider the  Society for Kona’s Education and Art this summer!
 Welcome to the Circus! is the theme for this year’s art camp being held from June 5th – 16th (Monday – Friday) Ages 6-11

Enjoy painting, drawing, pottery, music and movement.

Tuition: $290 for two week camp. (plus a current Family SKEA Membership $35)
