Just in time for the holidays and in an effort to recognize and reward women leaders who are dedicated to bringing Aloha and a better quality of life to the residents of the West Hawaii community, local lifestyle website 365Kona and local lifestyle expert, Leiola Augustine, of the Augustine Team of Hawaii Life Real Estate Brokers, have created a new award: The “Outstanding Woman of Leadership”.
First Award Granted To Founder of Project Hawaii, Inc
The first recipient of the award is Magin Patrick, founder of Project Hawaii, Inc. Ms. Patrick has dedicated her life to creating interactive programs helping the homeless children of Hawaii escape the cycle of poverty. Programs include a weeklong summer camp in Honokaa each year. “I know I was put on this earth to care for the homeless children and it is my kuleana to carry out this inner passion,” Ms. Patrick writes of herself.
Celebrating ten years helping homeless keiki. Project Hawai’i, Inc., was launched by Ms. Patrick to be fully run by volunteers and solely supported by public donations. Each holiday season, Project Hawaii raises funds and provides gifts to homeless children around the Big Island and Oahu.
“I am thrilled to be able to help create this award to recognize women leaders, like Magin, who give wholeheartedly to the West Hawaii community and whose dedication helps enrich the fabric of our lives here in Kona by helping our most vulnerable neighbors and giving local volunteers a chance to offer their time and donations to enhance the quality of our community. I have personally seen the holiday cheer Magin and her volunteers have brought to Hawaii this year and the impact has truly been remarkable!”, stated Leiola Augustine, Broker in Charge for Hawaii Life Real Estate Brokers and West Hawaii Christmas Chairwoman for Project Hawaii’.
“Seeing photos and videos, along with calls to action on social media from Project Hawaii and their dedicated volunteers for this year’s holiday donation program to the homeless keiki inspired us to want to recognize Magin and other women who give selflessly of themselves for the enrichment of others in Kona. Creating the “Outstanding Woman of Leadership” award gives us a chance to honor our local women leader heroes,” stated Julie Ziemelis, founder of 365Kona.
